Chicago Wizard World Con 2006
Santa & Rudolph Puppets Restored!

Here's some photos from the rankinbass.com/Time and Space Toys booth at the 2006 Chicago Wizard World Convention! The newly restored original puppets of Santa and Rudolph (from Rankin/Bass' 1964 holiday special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer) were again on display at the booth. Rick and Kevin were happy to meet Noel Neill, Lois Lane from the 1950's television series The Adventures of Superman (with George Reeves), when she stopped by the booth for a surprise visit! It turns out Noel is a big Rankin/Bass fan!

Live-action Year Without a Santa Claus!
Behind the scenes on the set of The Year Without a Santa Claus

OK, we were skeptical when we first heard about the live-action remake of Rankin/Bass' 1974 classic holiday special The Year Without a Santa Claus, but the more we learned, the more eager we were to see this new version! The TV movie sports an impressive cast including John Goodman and Delta Burke as Santa & Mrs. Claus, Eddie Griffin and Ethan Suplee as Jingle & Jangle, Carol Kane as Mother Nature, Harvey Fierstein as Heat Miser, Michael McKean as Snow Miser, and Chris Kattan as Sparky the Elf! Directed by Ron Underwood (City Slickers, Mighty Joe Young), and screenplay by Tom Martin (It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, The Muppets' Wizard of Oz), this two-hour movie shows some promise! We aren't aware of an air date as yet, but the dvd will be available on December 21st of this year. (Click here to pre-order at amazon.com.)

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
